There are 3 main areas of Security breach.

Virus

A Virus is a piece of executable code that attaches to files or applications. It replicates and proliferates from host to host over a Network or the Internet. A Virus requires a Host Computer and usually consumes Bandwidth, Memory and Disk space.

Worm

A Worm is very dangerous and replicates like a Virus but doesn't need a host. It usually does its damage when an Operating System or Program copies and transfers data.

Trojan Horse

A Trojan Horse is a Program that Masquerades as something harmless like a System tool or a Game. It is potentially dangerous and generally comes through e-mail or download. It does not replicate like a Virus or Worm.
